The enclosure. The circuit. The behavior.

A device works when its physical design, electronics and firmware work together. Our own power bank is a working example of that approach.

Public capacity is still opening. Selected projects are reviewed by arrangement; send a brief before planning around a delivery date.

Built in this workshop

A power bank with a language of its own.

The Modular Power Bank MK2.1 with its illuminated grille, USB ports and docking connectors
MPB MK2.1 / actual CAD render

The Modular Power Bank MK2.1 brings the pack, ports, module interface and firmware into one enclosure. Its addressable grille turns device state into something visible on the object itself.

Physical interfaces
Ports, controls and docking connectors are considered alongside the shell, rather than fitted into it at the end.
Embedded behavior
An ESP32 runs the bank's LED modes. The on-page simulator follows the firmware's palette and load-display logic.
A visible state
The grille provides feedback without adding a screen. The user can see a change in the device's behavior.

Try the behavior

The interface is part of the device.

Change the simulated load and mode to see how the grille responds. This is a browser simulator of our firmware logic, not a connection to live hardware.

Open the full firmware story

Under 0.5 A the firmware runs FastLED's Sunset Real palette across the strip, stepping it every 10 ms — a 2.56 s cycle (measured on the real bank's video: 2.60 s). After a load goes away it fades back in from dark over a second.

Ported line by line from MPB3.ino (ESP32 + FastLED): same palette maths, same timing, same thresholds.

Ways to work together

Bring a device brief, not a shopping list.

We review projects around the function they need to perform, the environment and the work required to prove them.

Sense & respond

Embedded prototypes.

A sensor, controller or connected device with a clear job. We review the inputs, outputs, power and update needs before choosing the hardware.

A scoped prototype plan, firmware behavior and a way to test the result.
Fit & integrate

The complete object.

Enclosure, board mounting, connectors and user controls developed together. Printed prototypes make the physical interfaces available for review early.

An integrated prototype with the agreed electronics and mechanical interfaces.
Add a capability

Retrofits & controls.

Add sensing, reporting or control to an existing setup. We first assess access, interfaces and the limits of what should be automated.

A feasibility assessment and a defined integration scope before development.
How it works

Feasibility comes before a promise.

This service is opening gradually. We confirm fit and capacity before agreeing to a project.

  1. 01

    Describe the device

What should it sense, control or show? Include the operating environment, power source, size constraints and intended quantity.

  2. 02

    Review feasibility

We check the interfaces, technical risks and available capacity, then agree the scope, milestones and quote if the project fits.

  3. 03

    Build & verify

Firmware and physical prototypes evolve together. We test against the behavior and conditions agreed for the prototype.

Questions

Before we start.

Is this service available now?

Public capacity is not fully open. Selected projects can be reviewed by arrangement. Send the brief and intended timing; we will confirm whether the workshop can take it on.

What is included in a device project?

The quote defines hardware, firmware, enclosure, documentation and testing separately. Certification, production readiness and ongoing support are scoped explicitly when required.

Early project enquiries

What should your device do?

Send the function, constraints and intended use. We will assess the project and capacity before committing to development.
